Teams Previous Live Events

Live events are accessible by clicking on a time link below (e.g.10AM).

We are covering areas in Teams we feel will be most valuable for staff on a day to day basis. These areas are Working in Chat, Teams/ Channels and The Calendar. Below is a description of what is covered in each session.

Working in Chat
Chat is the closest to Skype in terms of IM.  It's for communication on either a 1-2-1 basis or small groups, anything larger might be better off with a Team.
  •  Messaging Individuals
  • Always start with Format
  • Group message, add people and name the Group
  • Adding a new user to an existing group
  • @mention people
  • Files in Chat & One Drive
  • Save Messages & ‘Mark as unread’
  • Pin Chat
  • Mute - Turn off notifications and hide chats.
Working in Teams & Channels
  • Reply, Reply, Reply – don’t create hanging threads
  • Post - always start off with the format button.
  • Edit - to fix spelling mistake. This is a setting that can be turned off.
  • Like messages- view in 'Activity' & hover over like icon to see who responded.
  • Delete messages– find post made by yourself & look under more options. This is also a setting that can be turned off.
  • @mention - message people, an entire team or channel.
  • Save a message and use your profile to retrieve it.
  • Files/SharePoint - where the collaboration happens.
  • New –  create new Word, Excel, PowerPoint files.
  • Upload any older but relevant documents .
  • Sync – to NHS Wales/One Drive areas requires a network connection for access.
  • Show/Hide channels - for less important/urgent channels.
  • Notifications. Turning on channel notifications.
The Calendar and Team Owner Permissions
The calendar in Teams aligns with the outlook calendar, however it's not as feature rich and not all functionality overlaps e.g. it's not possible to see other people’s calendars.
Book meetings – most of this is self-explanatory apart from the schedule assistant which comes into play when names are added. Also, the ability to add channel to the invite – in theory this works fine, in practice it may struggle as posts push the invite up the forum and it disappears from view. Additionally users need to open the invite and accept to add it to the calendar.
Meet Now - for instant audio & video call.
Owner permissions.  A run through of the 'Manage Team' settings looking at:
  • Members
  • Pending Requests
  • Channels
  • Settings
  • Analytics
  • Apps
