NHS Wales Video Consulting Service

Deployment of NHS Wales Video Consultation service now totals 347 live practices with 4330 consultations completed.

The Primary Care Services team is now rapidly deploying the NHS Wales Video Consulting Service to practices across Wales.

We have scheduled training for all GP Practices who have expressed an interest in this service. The training takes about 45 minutes and by the end of the session you will be able to hold a video consultation. It is important that you have your cameras and headsets available.

In ABUHB, all 75 practices are using the service and over 330 consultations have taken place over the last few weeks. Feedback from both clinicians and patients has been very positive.

The NHS Wales Video Consulting Service offers healthcare professionals a safe and secure way to see patients via a video appointment, rather than seeing them in person.

It is being rolled out by the Welsh Government TEC Cymru service, with NWIS implementing the service to health professionals. It is being delivered via a communication platform called ‘Attend Anywhere’.

More information is available on the TEC Cymru website

The NWIS Primary Care Services team has started training GP practices in how to use the service. Practices will have received a survey asking for some configuration details e.g. Users, practice operational hours etc. To aid implementation, practices have been asked to get this information back to NWIS as soon as possible,  as this will enable us to set up practices for the video consultation service ahead of training.

These video clips will give practices an idea of the video consultation service and how it works:

If your practice would like to be an early adopter for this service, please contact us via gpict.gpict@wales.nhs.uk. Our aim is to ensure that all practices can use the service as soon as possible.

In the meantime, all practices are asked to ensure that all Skype equipment previously provided is available for use. Should practices require further support in using the equipment, please get in contact with your Primary Care Specialist, alternatively please log a call via the Primary Care Service Desk: primarycare.servicedesk@wales.nhs.uk.

If you need to purchase additional equipment, then please review the Primary Care Services website for the current specification.
