  • Welsh Clinical Communications Gateway
  • WCCG is a secure clinical messaging service and is used to send e-referrals between GP practices and hospitals. It is also used to send e-discharges from hospitals to GP practices. WCCG is also being used to send referrals from optometrists to hospital and for supplementary messages from GPs to Consultants and vice versa.

  • Welsh Care Records Service
  • Patient care is recorded in a number of ways in the healthcare system. Many different documents are generated which together build up a patient’s records. These records are collected in an electronic document repository called the Welsh Care Records Service (WCRS). The WCRS standardises these documents and allows them to be accessed and viewed by clinicians across health sector boundaries as well as being audited more easily.
  • Welsh Community Care Information System
  • The system will allow information to be shared between different health boards and social services departments instantly, helping to deliver improved care and support for people across Wales. • Welsh Demographics Service

A patient will give consent for the healthcare professional to access their record every time it is needed, and every access to a WGPR is automatically monitored.
  • Welsh Image Archive Service
  • A framework agreement awarded to Fujifilm for a national All Wales PACS facilitates the implementation of a Welsh Image Archive Service making it easier to share images between organisations and improve the speed and effectiveness of diagnosis.  The national database of medical images such as x-rays, ultrasound, CT and MRI scans can hold patients images from any healthcare setting in Wales, allowing medical staff to access a patient’s previous images, and images taken in any area of Wales
  • Welsh Patient Referral Service
  • The Welsh Patient Referral Service (WPRS) is a safe and secure method of transmitting patient referral letters and referral information between Primary and Secondary Care Services.  WPRS enables electronic referrals to go directly from a GP to a selected hospital.  For WPRS eligible services, Health Records staff are able to send referrals to an electronic work list for a clinician to triage.
  • Welsh Patient Administration System

The database of information is held in our data centres ready for the WCP and GPTR to call on.
  • Welsh Laboratory Information Management System
  • The new national LIMS replaces the 13 separate computer systems that had operated in the eighteen main pathology laboratories in Wales and provides quick access to test results regardless of where the patient receives care. And because it integrates with other systems, the new LIMS also provides added patient safety, reducing the number of duplicated tests.
  • Welsh Radiology Service (Radis)
  • Performs functions such as patient scheduling and clinical reporting around the specialty of medical images such as x-rays, CT and MRI scans and ultrasound.
