During the coronavirus pandemic, several digital services have been set up by NHS Wales to help citizens of Wales access health services and important virus information. See COVID-19 digital support for patients.
A major element of the digital strategy is to encourage citizens and patients to take a more active role in their own health and care.
Patients in Wales can already make online appointments and request repeat prescriptions, where their GP practice offers these services.
Since 2018, patients have also had access to My Health Online to view their medications and allergies. A pathfinder project to help patients view coded aspects of their personal health records is also under way.
Patients also receive text message reminders from the GP practices, which is reducing the number of patients who do not attend for appointments.
